For more than 42 years, Attorney Gerald M. Burns has been fighting for his clients across the Commonwealth. After graduating from the University of Louisville, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 1984, Burns opened up practice in Madisonville, Kentucky, with one simple goal – to work as hard as he could for the people that needed him the most.
Regardless of whether his time was spent in the courtroom defending a client or behind the scenes advocating for justice and equity for all whom he represented, Burns has never lost sight of what matters most – you.
One area of expertise he developed through his years of practice has been navigating the complexities of Family Court. Through what can be a very painful and emotionally draining time for families, Burns has helped ease the stress by making the process as simple as possible for all parties involved.
Now that Burns has slowed down his private practice, he still has a strong desire to assist those in need – and to do so at a fair price.
“It is important for divorcing couples to understand that the terms of property division, debt allocation, child custody and child support will be set at some point – either by a Judge or by an agreement reached together,” Burns said. “Too many times, litigating divorce parties spend thousands of dollars and months of frustration in court only to find out that neither of them is satisfied, and that each would have been much better off getting down to business themselves. Making decisions based on logic rather than emotion can prove beneficial to all involved. I am here to help in formalizing that agreement.”
When asked how his firm can keep the base price of an uncontested divorce below $400, Burns’ reply was simple and straightforward.
“An uncontested divorce should be a simple process that requires my staff to do some fact-gathering, paperwork, and filing with the court,” he explained. “It is our mission to keep the individuals out of the courts and make the transition into the next phase of their lives as easy as possible.”
Burns said his clients who sign on for his services will not have to make any court appearances or attend any classes as part of the divorce process.
“Bottom line, I’m going to make sure your divorce is handled properly, professionally, and as inexpensively as possible – that’s my pledge to you and your family.”
